Lots may be manually assigned to lotted and individually lot-costed items in Sales Orders, Order Control, Update Pick List, and Shipping based on User Security and Location settings. See Selecting Lots for more information.
Lots can be automatically assigned to sales orders when they are entered based on the Lots Tagged Automatically setting in Sales Options, the Saleable and Auto Tag Lots settings in Location and the Auto Tag Lots setting in Department.
If the Lots Tagged Automatically setting in Sales Options is set to Y (Y=yes) and the Saleable and Auto Tag Lots settings in Location are set to Y (Y=yes), the system will automatically tag the lot from the oldest lot found with an available balance in the first auto-tag location found and then go to the next lot in the location. If the available balance is zero for the location, the system will look to the next auto-tag location and pick from the oldest lot with an available balance. The lots will be assigned or tagged as the order line is completed as the quantity is entered.
If Lots Tagged Automatically setting in Sales Options is set to F (F=using during finish), and the Saleable and Auto Tag Lots settings in Location are set to Y (Y=yes), the system will automatically tag the lot from the oldest lot found with an available balance in the first auto-tag location found and then go to the next lot in the location. If the available balance is zero for the location, the system will look to the next auto-tag location and pick from the oldest lot with an available balance. The lots will be assigned or tagged when the sales order is finished. See Finishing a Sales Order for more information.
If Lots Tagged Automatically setting in Sales Options is set to N (N=no) and the Saleable and Auto Tag Lots settings in Location are set to N (N=no) the system will not automatically tag or assign lots to the item when the sales order line is entered or the sales order is finished. The lot will need to be manually assigned in Sales Orders, Order Control, Update Pick List, and Shipping. See Selecting Lots for more information.
However, lots can be assigned when the pick list is generated in Shipping Papers if the Auto Tag Lots setting in Department is set to Y (Y=yes). The system will assign or auto tag lots to sales orders based on the first auto tag location found when the pick list is generated for the department. The pick auto tag function is used in conjunction with the physical location field for the item.
